RSVP Now to Join the March Accra Technology Salon on “How Can Ghanaians Manage and Direct Generative AI Solutions?”

March Tech Salon Accra

The release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and similar chatbots like Google’s Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude has re-ignited the discussion around how we can manage and direct artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.

A common challenge with these and other AI and machine learning (ML) systems is their lack of transparency and accountability. Opaque decision-making systems are having a huge impact on our lives and our society:

In the face of this, how can we create more space for Ghanaian participation in the design, testing, deployment, and assessment of these models? Who should participate from our community? When, how and why? Would meaningful participation improve GenAI accountability? What would greater accountability look like? What might it achieve?

Please RSVP Now to join the next Accra Tech Salon to debate the role of GenAI in our society and how it can reflect the realities in Ghana and West Africa. We’ll have thought leaders from Ghana and international guests who are attending the ICT4D Conference.

Please RSVP Now to converse with key stakeholders from international organizations, local government officials, civil society and technologists on key questions like:

  • How are GenAI tools trained and calibrated, and should Ghanaian data be included?
  • Which Ghanaian companies are pushing for inclusion and what are their successes?
  • Can Ghanaian representation improve GenAI accountability and results?
  • What is the role of government or international organizations in managing GenAI?
  • Who is innovating with GenAI and what are they learning about Ghana’s systems?

We’ll have hot coffee and catered breakfast treats for a morning rush, but seating is limited. Once we reach our 30-person capacity there will be a waiting list!

About the Technology Salon

The Technology Salon™ is an intimate, informal, and in-person, discussion between information and communication technology experts and international development professionals, with a focus on both:

  • Technology’s impact on donor-sponsored technical assistance delivery.
  • Private enterprise driven economic development, facilitated by technology.

Our meetings are lively conversations, not boring presentations. Attendance is capped at 35 people – and frank participation with ideas, opinions, and predictions is actively encouraged.

It’s also a great opportunity to meet others motivated to employ technology to solve vexing development problems. Join us today!
