Penplusbytes to Participate in the 2025 OGP Africa and Middle East Regional Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya

OGP regional meeting

Penplusbytes is pleased to announce its participation in the 2025 Open Government Partnership (OGP) Africa and Middle East Regional Meeting set to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from March 25–27, 2025

Representing Penplusbytes at this significant gathering is Programme Manager, Emmanuel Koranteng Asomani, who will contribute to discussions on leveraging civic tech, digital governance, and open government initiatives to advance transparency and accountability across Africa.

Hosted by the Government of Kenya in partnership with the Open Government Partnership, the Regional Meeting will convene high-level representatives of government, civil society, the private sector, and policy-makers from across the region, as well as global partners, to exchange experiences, best practices, and progress on open government initiatives and implementation on key issues.

Touching on Penplusbytes’ participation, Mr. Asomani noted that, “Our participation will offer us the global platform to share with the world experiences and initiatives we have embarked on particularly in supporting OGP in achieving its commitment on combating mis/disinformation.”

On the sidelines of the Regional Meeting will be a workshop on “Safe, Inclusive, Ethical Digital Technology: Implementing the Global Digital Compact in Africa” taking place alongside the Regional Meeting. This workshop will seek to learn from and build upon existing digital governance initiatives in a number of African countries taking place via OGP and beyond, and explore how they can achieve the principles and objectives outlined in the Global Digital Compact.

At both events – the Regional Meeting and the workshop, Mr. Asomani will share insights from Penplusbytes’ work on combating mis/disinformation and safeguarding democracy.

Penplusbytes remains committed to leveraging digital tools, data, and media innovations to foster democratic governance across Africa. Our participation in this event aligns with our mission to promote transparency, counter disinformation, and empower citizens through CivicTech solutions.
