Currently serving as an Assistant Communications Officer with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN (FAO) in Harare, Leonard is in charge of Research and draft media and advocacy materials; creating and preparing documents for publications in journals, position papers, op eds, speeches and talking points. His role also includes collecting and synthesizing and packaging information; including production, editing of human interest stories, press releases, and web stories.
Between 2011 and 2014, he joined the World Vision in Zimbabwe where he acted in his capacity as the Communication Officer, identifying and attending to communication and knowledge management gaps and opportunities at the organisation.
Prior to his Communications and PR stints, Leonard Makombe worked as a senior reporter for the Zimbabwe Independent where he was responsible for writing business, political, financial and company news. He was also responsible for writing features and analysis reports.
Leonard describes himself as a committed, result-oriented and self-motivated individual, who sets reasonably high standards of work and works tenaciously to achieve them both as an individual and in a team.
